We at EDEN are so grateful for the 40+ volunteers who served at Bridge Pointe Commons on Friday—despite the challenges posed by Mother Nature! Folks from #MHARSLC, #LCCCLorain, #MyAllianceNEO, #LorainCCFdn, #ElyriaRotary, #TheNordCenter, and #CityofElyria worked hard to distribute lodging kits to each of the 62 units and set them up so that tenants can move in with the necessities that will enable them to begin life in their new homes: dishes, pots and pans, cleaning supplies, linens, microwaves, televisions, and more. For more pictures, visit https://tinyurl.com/4p66wj8v.
Special thanks also go to Mayor Frank Whitfield of the City of Elyria and his spouse, Kaleena, for taking the time to tour the facility and provide their input. We also deeply appreciate to those organizations who enabled us to purchase the lodging kits: The Community Foundation of Lorain (www.peoplewhocare.org), The MHARS Board of Lorain County (https://mharslc.org), Community West Foundation (www.communitywestfoundation.org), and the Nord Foundation (https://www.nordff.org/).
Bridge Pointe Commons will provide Permanent Supportive Housing for individuals who have experienced homelessness, have health-related vulnerabilities, and would benefit from the on-site wrap-around services—including case management and counseling, which will be staffed by the Nord Center. The building is nearly ready to open, and residents will be selected via the Coordinated Intake system. Please learn more at www.EDENcle.org.
